Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Minnesota

Me and my ex wife have joint custody of our dog in our divorce decree. Over the last year she has not lived up to our agreement. From November to March she only saw the dog once a week each month, from April to beginning July she didn't ask me about her, Since then she contacted sent me and email in the beginning of July, a text in middle of September, and then an email just the other day. I was wondering what legal standing does she have.

First, it is rather unusual to have such disagreements over a family pet. Certainly it is likely that a court would view any action regarding such a matter as a waste of judicial resources.

That is partticularly true since purchasing a new pet would be much less costly than any legal action. Moreover, you cannot force the other party to s0pend time with the pet and filing any type of action in that regard would certainly incur the wrath of a court room Judge.

Nonetheless, if you have a clearly worded court order, and one party is not following that order, the remedy is a Motion for Contempt
