Legal Question in DUI Law in Missouri

Do I have a right to speak with an attorney in a Missouri DWI refusal case?

I just got a DWI in Kansas City, Missouri, where the cop asked me to take a breath test and I refused, but he did not say anything to me about getting to talk to my attorney. Don't I get to talk to my attorney before I have to blow?

Missouri DUI / DWI: Do I have a right to speak with an attorney in a Missouri D

IN MISSOURI, if the driver, when requested to submit to a chemical test, requests to speak with an attorney, he or she shall be granted 20 minutes in which to attempt to contact an attorney. If after the expiration of 20 minutes the driver continues to refuse to submit to a chemical test it shall be deemed a refusal. RSMo. Section 577.041.

NOTE: In some other states, SUCH AS KANSAS, you do NOT have the right to talk to an attorney, and if you you ask to speak with an attorney, it will be deemed a refusal of the chemical test.
