Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

A girl I had a fling with recently claims to be pregnant with my child. She claims that she wants the baby to have nothing to do with me but wants child support. This girl is simply after money I do not have. My question is, what are my chances of getting full custody of the child if it is mine? I believe the environment in which she will raise the child is not suitible for a child, or any human being for that matter. I believe I can create a more suitible living environment for the child should it come to that.

The answer to your question depends a great deal on your reasoning for your belief that the environment in which the mother will raise the chld is not suitable and what proof you have of the same. It is imperative that you consult an attorney in your area to determine your rights and responsibilities.

In the first place, you have no legal rights concerning this child until you obtain a Court Order saying so. so, you will need tohire an attorney to file a Petition either to determine paternity or at least to determine custody rights. I have handled hundreds of these cases over the thirty-three years I have been practicing law and I might be able to offer my services to you. But, be forewarned, custody battles can be extremely expensive, and can take a lot of time and effort. If you are in my geographical area and you would like to set up a consultation, please feel free to contact me.
