Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

when I left my ex-husband due to domestic violence he took my birth certificate my social security card and any other form of ID over a year now and I am having the most trouble trying to request my birth certificate from Virginia they said they don't want me happy together anyways I have A2 year old son and trying to keep apartment. My fiance(who is illegal) he comes home and his back is killing him he's tired and cranky.I've tried every way possible to try to request my birth certificate had a domestic violence shelter the shelter closed down. the Department of Vital Records last option I probably have to get a lawyer to request it for me write my information on their company has a paper with a copy of the ID that says they area lawyer
