Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

I live in Missouri and my nephew lives in NC. He would like to come and live with me for 1 yr to go to school with my son. Both of his parents agree to transfer however aren't sure legally what needs to be done. Does it have to go through the courts? They don't have alot of funds to pay for attorneys fee.

In Missouri we have a statute that specifically provides for a Power of Attorney giving you the authority to act as parent for you nephew for up to one year. It would not cost very much in attorney's fees to have one prepared. However, you should check with the school in which your nephew would be enrolled to ascertain what the school's requirements would be. Some school districts have no problem accepting the power of attorney while others require something from the Court.
