Legal Question in Family Law in Missouri

my son has 2 daughters one was born in mo the other az she has custody of both she resides ib az my son in missouri he or i go to az picks them up an we return them he pays 700 a month which he is behind on she the mother had me pick the youngest one up in the beginning of may my son picked the other one up middle of may we found out the oldest missed about 28 days of school was in 3 different schools all in same year we still have both girls enrolled oldest in school here in mo would my son have any chance on getting custodythe mother is in az
