Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Missouri

I have been served a summons to court for a unpaid $1200. Sewer bill. From msd. What should I do? Will they work out a reasonable payment plan? Will I be responsible for court cost and their atty fees? I am unemployed and will have to borrow either way. I have recently been sending $50. Per month but I guess that is not .enough.

If you do not appear and deny the allegations, they will get judgment by default. You will be responsible for court costs. If they alleged that they're entitled to reasonable attorney fees, they'll get that too in a default judgment. It is impossible to predict how helpful or accommodating a plaintijff will be in negotiations. However, attorneys representing utilities are accustomed to discussing payment plans.

Good luck
