Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Missouri

The landlords never created a written lease agreement for my home, originally, the landlord and I agreed upon having the house fixed up for rent. I have put a lot of work and money into it, then the landlord offered a rent to own option, but once again without a written agreement. Recently the landlords decided they needed the money right away so they could pay off either this property or something else, suddenly a relative of the landlords showed up saying she owned the place making demands and threats but had no paper work, Without any documents showing that she purchased the property she was walking in whenever she wanted and had on multiple occasions demand that I make a couple, that I had allowed to stay while their home was being repaired, leave without notice so she could move into a room while I am still living here. When I was able to get ahold of the landlords I was told she had not purchased the property because she had not come up with the money yet and that if I could come up with 5,000.00 and I could buy the house. She showed up at my door the other day stating that she had come up with the money and said I had a month to move she again had no paper work, nothing saying that she actually purchased the property. I have pictures of the house when I first moved in, they have never provided documents or receipts for anything that we agreed upon and they live in a different state now. Sometimes I have trouble getting ahold of them when they are traveling so I cannot verify that she has in fact purchased the property. I have lived here for almost seven years and never had any problems until this year. I believe, because she is actually just the mother of their nephew's children that she may be threatening their family with visitation limits in order to get them to work with her to buy the house because things she says do not make sense if she just paid them $5000. I cannot prove this, but speaking with the landlord in the past, I do not believe that they even want to sell the property to her. I need to know what my options or rights are in this situation.

Call the police the next time she arrives. You hopefully have letters, emails or written proof of your rent payments to show to the officers. That should answer your questions about this woman. If she paid your landlord, she'll show proof to the Police. That will tell you that you have a month to move. It is past time for you to get a written lease agreement, assuming your landlord hasn't sold the property. You can have your attorney draft the lease agreement, for you and the landlord to sign. Otherwise, you remain vulnerable to a thirty day notice to vacate.

Good luck
