My girlfriend and I signed a 2 year rental lease in St. Louis Missouri which expired making it a month to month lease. We fell behind on the rent and utilities which are in her name and she moved out. Is she responsible for half of the past amounts?

There may be factors in the agreement between you two that change the responsibility of her liability for rent and utilities. But, based upon the few facts you provided, the landlord can come after her for all of the past due rent, and the utility companies can come after her for all the utility bills, including after she nived out. As Ling as her name is on the account, she may remain liable to them. You may only be able to sue her for half of the rent and utilities for up to one month after she left. You should consult directly with a civil practice attorney in your area, before deciding what to do. You need advice from someone who can read your lease agreement and discuss the agreement you and your girlfriend had regarding splitting the bills.
