Legal Question in Traffic Law in Missouri

Hello!

I received a letter in the mail stating that I "failed to appear for the following citation" for "open storage of inoperable vehicle" and that the court has issued a summons.

-Never received first "citation".

-Citation does not make 0 sense.

-Car is 0 legal and registered with non expired plates.

-I do not drive the car(drive fiances), it's parked at my apartment.(Where I live/has off street parking and parking spaces/parked off street as per apartment complex has no free parking spots)

Thank you for your time!

What did I do wrong? Is this punishable by jail time? What should I do when I go to court?

You did not indicate which municipality issued the citation. You should consult directly with a defense attorney in your area. They may be able to provide you with some free or inexpensive advise as to your options. In most municipalities, a first offense for storing an unlicensed or abandoned vehicle conviction does not result in jail time. But, a second failure to appear could.

Good luck
