Legal Question in Consumer Law in Montana

purchase for future use of resort facility

We purchased a package for future use of a condo at a ski resort for one week. The cost was $500. Since this was purchased, the business was sold and the new owners will not honor this package. There were no dates set and no expiration date, that we can find. What can we do about this?

When you bought, did you get a written contract? Did it say anything about if ownership transferred? You at least have a claim/suit against who you bought from and maybe also against the new owner, who should honor all outstanding obligations/contracts. What state is the condo in? You might try calling that state bar and ask for a referal attorney who deals with business and contract law. I'd send a very demanding, threatening letter and ask the resort who their legal counsel is. Maybe they'd be willing to avoid a lawsuit if you put some pressure on them, especially if you got an attorney to write that letter. Good luck
