Jurisdiction

Does the Capital (Helena,MT) have jurisdiction to hear any small claims within its State? Can a person file small claims if the deffendant(s) main office is out of state, but a branch office is in my state? (Main office in Oregon but branch office in Montana)

To acquire jurisdiction over a business that is out of state, the plaintiff must show that the business has significant ties to the state. If it has an office in Helena and does business there, then it can be sued in Montana. Also, if the business has a registered agent within Montana, that is the person to serve process on.
