Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Nebraska

Youth football helmets

If a non-profit organization purchases protective equipment such as a football helmet then distributes them as the clubs property are the board members legally responsible for any related injuries that may stem from the use of those helmets? Do we need to purchase extra insurance? What kinds? Thanks

Just talk to your ins. agent and they'll be happy to give you all the options. If you want to pay for a legal opinion about what kind of liability you could have on these facts, we can refer you to an attorney in NE.

Re: Youth football helmets

You need to look at two things, in addition to talking with your insurance agent.

1) your liability waiver for the activities

2) the best practices law when it comes to football helmets.

An attorney should research both of these questions for you, because the wrong helmet could indicate a lack of care (negligence), and it sounds like a legal review of the entire program is in order to make sure everyone understands the liability issues.
