marriage

If i get married in amsterdam on vacation will it be legal in the U.S.A.?If not how do I make it legal?

I would think that the recognition of the marriage in the first place depends on whether there is a treaty between the US and Holland. I am not sure whether this is the case, but considering the close relationships between The Netherlands and the US I would be very surprised if there is no mutual automatic recognition. Nevertheless, to some extent it may depend on the nationality of the spouse. Another perhaps more relevant question is which law would apply to the marriage. Again, this probably depends primarily on whether or not there is a treaty. A US family law attorney should be able to find out easily whether the necessary treaties are in place. If there are no treaties, then it is a question of US law more than Dutch law.
