Re: sexual assault

The question depends on how old the girls were at the time of the alleged assault and whether substantial bodily harm is alleged. Sexual assault is a Class A felony which carries a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and can be up to life w/o parole.

If he was 17 at the time of the alleged assault he may be able to avoid criminal prosecution in the adult system. In other words as he was a juvenile at the time of the alleged sexual assault he should be tried in the juvenile system which is a civil not a criminal process. The DA may, however, try to certify him in to the adult system.
