retaining Priority date after filing another GC

my I-140 is approved under eb3 category , priority date of march 2003 . I am a resident of India and hence effected by retrogression.

I have MS in Computrs from USA and hence eligible for EB2.

Can my employer file for another green card under EB2 category , while retaining the old PD of march 2003.
