Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey

Hello

We are opening an Event Space business and I have a question about alcohol:

If a customer (who is having his/her party at our space) brings alcohol, pours it himself/herself to the guests, and an accident happens to anyone who was consuming it in our space, are we liable?

You are liable for your own acts of negligence, not for someone else's. You are also going to carry a comprehensive business liability policy as well right? So make sure you know what this covers for as well.

I'm sure you are going to have a number of other legal questions and concerns moving forward, so I suggest that you consult with a lawyer in private and discuss your objectives in more detail. You can start by calling around to several for a free phone consultation, get some insights then pick the best fit to work with.

If you would like to discuss further over a free phone consult, feel free to contact me anytime that is convenient.

Our firm is now referred by the American Bar Association (see under the New York section):
