Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey

Non-Compete

I've worked for a national test prep chain for one year at $12/hr. Another national test prep chain wants to hire me at double that rate. Apparently I signed a 3-year non-compete agreement when hired a year ago. Am I stuck in this job? How do I get out? This is in NJ.

Re: Non-Compete

Amazing that someone would try to lock you into such a low-paying job.

Talk to a lawyer who does this kind of work. I have a good friend who does this type work (I do NOT).

Good luck to you.

Re: Non-Compete

I would have to see the agreement to be of much help. If you are not interacting with customers, it is possible that the agreement is either not enforceable or not violated by your new job.
