Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

3rd Degree Criminal Restraint , Please help get removed for Military

I am trying to join the military and I am having difficulty due to my felony charge. I have to go through a waiver process and even if they excuse it, I will have trouble getting security clearances due to the charge. The judge was James A. Citta from ocean county. I dont think it can be expunged?? Maybe a conditional discharge?? It happened 7 years ago, I got a 180 day sentence and 3 years probation. I completed everything and have not been in any trouble since. It happened when I was 18, and if I got a real lawyer and not a public defender, I would have gotten off with just probation and a lesser charge, (as one lawyer said it is bogus, and why no PTI??) The military is my dream, goal, future. I need help with this problem. Please contact me. Thank you, Matt W.
