Can a day care facility raise the rates at a rate of more then 50% with no notice?

The rates with any private company are set by contract. If you have a contract with the facility that sets the rate, then that rate is fixed for the length of time agreed upon. Absent a contract, a private facility can raise its rates as long as they give notice (ie. you cannot drop off your child in the morning when the rate is $10/day and then come back and be charged $15 because the rate went up that day).
