Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Do I have the right to visitation while the custody process is going on.

I want to start a custody hearing, but I am afraid that my daughter's mom will stop letting me see her once I do this. I can now only see her at her house and she will not let me take her to my house. That is why I am going to file for joint custody. Is there any temporary custody that I can get while this is going on. Also, how long does this usually take? I want this to happen quickly because a lawyer that I spoke to said that over-nights are very important and she hasn't let me even bring her to my house (I live with my parents). My daughter is 6 weeks old. I have spent at least 4 hours each work day with her and more than that on my 2 days off, since she was born.

Yes you can file for temproary custody. You should contact an attorney as soon as possible. This is not a quick process but you should have visitation during that time. Call my office to set up an appointment.
