Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

my wife and I had a small domestic incident a few weeks ago where the police where called they responded and left without any further incident. Since then I have had to deal with a county social worker because they received an anonymous call to there hotline in regards to my two kids and the domestic incident. My kids where never involved in this and did not even see it happen. The child services put a 10 day safety program on my wife and I where someone has to be around us when we have the kids together. They have also told us we are required to attend 10 sessions with a counselor. This Wednesday we both meet with a child service worker to see if the child safety program will be lifted. my question is why are my kids involved in this when they didn't see anything happen? What rights do I have in this meeting and are they doing any of this to my wife and I legally? Also do they have the right to keep extending this safety program this will be the second time. any advice or rights that you can advice me on would be appreciated thank you
