Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

Car damaged due to Improper maintanence of commercial property.

I was driving into a gas station to get gas, and I ran over an uncovered manhole, and my vehicle sustained damage to the undercarrige in amt. of $359.13. There were no cones, caution tape, or signs indicating an uncovered hole. The gas attendants made me believe I was in the wrong and threatened to call the police, so they replaced my blown tire for $20.00, and sent me away. I pulled into the next gas station because of many sounds I was hearing and they said my car had much damage. They fixed the car. I later filed a police report, and have copies of all the receipts. Is the first gas sation liable in any way? What is my next step to recover damages?

You can file a complaint in the special civil part in the county where the gas station is located.
