Legal Question in Immigration Law in New Jersey

Immigration Detainer- PLEASE HELP!!

Hi,

My boyfriend is currently in prison charged with a 3rd degree possession of weapon (machete) and a 2nd degree charge of eluding, he was sentenced 1-07-08. He has been a legal resident for more than 7 years in NJ. We have a 8 month old son, and I am in great need of his financial support since I am only 18 and I just began college. Do you believe there's any way to obtain a relief, and/or will he be eligible for a relief?

What prison is he housed in? Where are you living?

Re: Immigration Detainer- PLEASE HELP!!

Need more details. What is his total sentence? Depending on the crime and ocnviction, he could be charged by immigration to anywhere from an aggravated felony to two crimes involving moral turpitude. First of all, do you want to save his neck from deportation simply so that he will be paying support or something. Bad reason. Tell me what the circumstances of the charges are, and how old he is, and how long of a sentence he has, and I can be clearer on an answer to you.
