Legal Question in Immigration Law in New Jersey

I am US student on F1 visa. My Spouse got F2 visa in my country 6 month ago. But right now my spouse is in my home country and now is planing to come here. I heard that if my spouse did not make entry with in 6 month of visa issuance date, dependent has to apply again for another visa. What is the legal provision about that. Please provide me information.

When the Department of State issues the F2 visa in her passport it will have an expiration date. If she does not use the visa to attempt an admission (entry + inspection) into the U.S. within that time, the visa is void. She would then need to reapply. The purpose of that is to ensure that all factors supporting the F2 remain intact. For example that you are still in school full time and that you are still married.
