Legal Question in Insurance Law in New Jersey
What consists of insurance fraud?
I bought insurance from someone who I was lead to believe was legal. I got liability insurance on my car. I recently got pulled over and was informed that is was a fake. I paid this person $250.00 for the premium and was told thereafter would be the same monthly. The policeman is trying to say that I knew it was a fake insurance card, which I didn't. Because of this, I was told I may have to do time in prison, even thought this is my 1st offense. What should I do?

Re: What consists of insurance fraud?
I am not a New Jersey lawyer, however, I suggest that you cant a New Jersey lawyer IMMEDIATELY. You will need representation for the charges that have been brought against you. Additionally, you should probably file a criminal complaint against the individual who sold you the fraudulant insurance.
