What is the statute of limitations in the state of New Jersey for filing a lawsuit concerning an employment contract violation? The contract is regarding rules for processing disciplinary cases.

The limitations period for contract disputes is usually six years. However, the contracts that define many employment relationships frequently provide for dispute resolution procedures that impose shorter periods. The courts will frequently honor these procedures if that can be done without upsetting the contractual intent.
