Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

Salary

I'm a Pharmacist working for a chain pharmacy. We were hired as salary based on 40 hrs/week. We are paid weekly. For any hours we work over 40, we get straight hourly wages. Recently, we were told if we are closed for a holiday, that we get 8 hours holiday pay. If the dept. was closed for 13 hours (ex. Monday) that we had to use vacation or personal time to make up the difference or figure out how to work the additional time within that 7 day period. Prior to this new decree, we were not asked to make up the difference using persanal/vacation or altering schedules. IS THIS ALLOWABLE/LEGAL? Should we be considered hourly and therfore eligible for overtime?
