Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

I've been working full time 6yrs for a small company. When I was hired no mention was ever made of having to do a drug test and full personal/business background check nor was it required for the future with this company. My employer now wants me to allow a company that has hired his company to do work for them to run a full 10 panel drug test and a indepth back ground check on me. On the paper work for this other company they also want to right to share this info with anyone at anytime in the future. This company works with gov contracts. Can I be fired for refusing to allow this invasion of my personal life?

You should make an inquiry as to the reason for this enhanced background investigation. You mentioned that your company is about to be a sub-contractor for a company with a government. Perhaps the background check is needed for security clearance. You can be terminated for any or no reason. Again, make sure that you have all of your facts and that you have assurances (written) that your personal information is protected and secured.
