Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

I live in JC, NJ with my husband and young child. We have been living in a family house for almost 10 years now. The owner moved to a different house she bought and we moved into her apt, which is bigger. Beginning of Aug I found a note on the door stating the house is being taken by the sheriff for foreclosure. Two days ago there was a couple asking about the owner because they're interested in buying the house. I did some research and found out the house is in foreclosure and she hasn't paid her taxes since May, when she moved out. She ha's been collecting rent from everyone who lives there and has not me toned anything. She acts stupid as if she doesn't know anything. What can we do? We do not have a lease and she has many illegal rooms in the house she rents.

New Jersey is very protective of tenants. The the new LL can't evict unless he wants to use the space personally. The LL, not family or friends.

There is also the illegality question. Theoretically one can evict due to the illegal use. However NJ law requires a 6 months rent relocation allowance.
