Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Jersey

i live in nj. my boyfriend moved out of the apt we shared where both our names are on the lease. he gave no notice and left me with a $1000 electric bill. the rent is $1500/month and there are about 9 months left on the lease. can i sue him for his share of the rent and the electric bill?

Small Claims court is limited to claims of $3000 or less. If I understand the facts, your claim will be for $7,250 which means that you must bring the suit in Special Civil Part or give up the difference.
