Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey

My son's injury

Hi,

My son and his friends were rented a house by a realtor, the youth pastor of our church. My son was in the house only one or two days and attempted to open the window in the kitchen. It was painted shut, and his hand went through the glass, severing his tendon. He refused to see a lawyer, since he did not want to be put out of the house. After a struggle, the realtor agreed to pay the hospital bills. My son has had intermittent pain in his wrist, and I notice him always flexing it back and forth. I am concerned because he does physical labor and it may impair his ability to earn a living. He finally smashed his finger in the cellar door, and I had to take him to the hospital. I had the ER doctor look at it, and he said there is an awful lot of scar tissue built up, and he may have problems with it. My son was naive` and did not foresee this. The statute of limitations has passed, because the accident happened in February 2002 - but I was unaware that it had to be filed on the exact date of the injury. One lawyer told me I might be able to pursue it as a contract case, since the house was uninspected (I went to the Vineland NJ housing authority and found out the house was uninspected). Can you please help us?

Re: My son's injury

My first question is how old is your son? Depending on his age, he may still be able to sue for personal injury. Otherwise I do not know of any contract action that could be undertaken for an injury. If you wish to discuss this further please call 732-286-2170.
