Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey

will my insurance company pay?

I am a defendent in a personal injury case. At the arbitration, my insurance company lawyer refused the amt put forth by the arbitrator because it exceeded my limits. Then he told me that they will go to trail and even if the judgement exceeds my limits, my insurance will pay for the full amount. Is this really true?

While I do not know what was said, if they made that representation, then they would be committed, or the attoreny would be. I would certainly ask them to place it in writing, but when they proceed in the face or a possible excess verdict with the knowledge that the case can be settled inside the limits, then in most cases the insurer will be obligated to cover the excess.
