Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

deposit monies

In a contract for sale, I put in contingencies, which I cannot meet, and therefore as per the contract am entitled to my deposit back. The sellers attorney holding my deposit has yet to respond now for 3 weeks. I have mailed 2 letters, faxed 1 and made 2 phone calls..all with no response. I am very angry that I'm being ignored. He has no legal reason to keep deposit money. What do I need to do at this point? I don't know if its legal for me to go to his office and demand my money, should I file a theft charge? The amount is 15,000. Please help

Re: deposit monies

My office regularly handles real estate matters, including contract disputes. I would like to gather some additional information from you. For example, have you received any correspondence from the other party indicating why they feel you are not entitled to a return of your deposit?

Please contact my office if you would like to discuss this matter further, www.sambrownlaw.com.
