Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

My parents bought a commercial real estate in 1985, myself and brother cosigned on this property, so the deed has our names. My mother died in 1986 but we never changed the deed. Now my father is selling the property. Is there any docs that we need to file with the state of nj before the closing.

It depends on how you held title with your parents. The deed would need to be reviewed. You may have to file an inheritance tax return with the state and request a tax waiver to clear title. There will be a lot of documents that you will need to sign when you sell the property, and there will be some legal problems that a lawyer will be able to help you with. If your mother is on the deed, you will need to file with the state of New Jersey for death taxes.
