Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Jersey

Property Easements

We switched houses with my fater in

law...He downsized to ours, we gave

him our house and took out a loan

to cover the rest. I have been told

that our propperty has an easement

that includes what I thought was our

front yard, and runs under our deck.

It's a sewer easement and the town

has been digging and repairing on

and off for a month. How do I find

out exactly what the easement

covers? My father in law has no info,

and we did the realestate switch with

only one lawyer for both parties. I

would like to build a fence along one

side that faces a heavily travelled

road, but don't know where to look

for the original agreement and

conditions.

Re: Property Easements

an intelligent attorney can solve this for you pretty easily. you may be able to do it yourself, but not likely.

the information as to what the easement is should be contained in documents recorded in the County land records.
