Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey
Speed limit in school zone?
I was recently ticketed for doing 42 in a 25 mph school zone. However, the normal speed limit on the road is 35; it is 25 only when the lights are flashing on the sign that extends over the road. They were not flashing when I was stopped (the kids were already in school-no buses, no crossing guards present, etc). Is the speed limit 25 or 35 in these circumstances? Thanks

Re: Speed limit in school zone?
It is what the signs say, assuming the signs are legal.

For something like this, you may not need an attorney. I suggest you go there and tell them what happened. See what they will offer you. If they insist on giving you points, ask for more time to get an attorney.
