Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey

My fiancee has early stages of Alzheimer's (diagnosed 2 years ago). We have been together for 18 years. We have been engaged for 11 years. We have been living together in New Jersey in her house for over 10 years. Her will grants me 18 months to find a suitable place to live after her death but leaves me nothing else. Her children have Financial and Medical POA. I have contributed to the household equally for over 10 years. The children are starting legal proceedings. Do I have any legal financial and/or medical rights? What should I do?

The children are starting legal proceedings? Get to a lawyer right away. A smart and preferrably nasty one.

Is she still early stage Alzheimer's? Can she make decisions for herself? Then maybe you should get a deed to the house now from her, if she wants that.

You need to get a lawyer onboard now!

You don't say what kind of "legal proceedings" the children are bringing...Proceedings to have you evicted? Guardianship proceedings? You need to be more specific about what is happening.

If you are not married, you have no rights to her estate [if you were married you would be entitled to a share of her estate as a surviving spouse]. You've been engaged for eleven years?? I think that has to be some kind of record.
