Legal Question in Disability Law in New York

Wheel-chair discrimination in NY.NY.

I was in New york city,6-27 to 7-4 of 1999. When my sister and I would try to hale a cab,not one cab would stop too pick us up.Almost all of them were empty. Then I decided too move to see if one would stop for my sister,as soon as i wheeled myself away,45 seconds later here comes a cab.So my sister opened the door for me to get in, when the cabdriver wanted to pull away but by then I was almost in the seat.I had too ask the driver to help my sister get my wheel-chair.That wasn't the only time it happened. My brother in-law tried to hale a cab,Brother-in-law went to opened a taxi door as soon as the driver saw me he pulled away almost hitting him with the door.I can prove this.Is there anything I can do?

Short of suit -- possible only if you took cab name and number -- you can literally go to City Hall and start a campaign.

My brother, who had MS and scooter and then wheelchair) did and was responsible for getting PRIVATE parking lots, like those for supermarkets, to have MARKED handicapped spaces. Now it's commonplace. But he was persistent and didn't let up on the mayor, who then didn't let up on others within his administration. Go to City Hall. The mayor probably wants to be re-elected for some office! He'll listen.
