Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New York

Will Bankruptcy stop IRS debts/penalities/interest etc.?

I just married a lady who previously had her own business. Her associate failed to pay IRS taxes. She dissolved the business in 1997 and owes over 30K in Taxes, penalty and interest to the IRS. Will filing bankruptcy stop or dissolve the IRS taxes and/or debts?

Will the IRS come after me in order to collect on her previous debts?

Bankruptcy will not help her. You can hire an attorney to negotiate with the IRS, on her behalf.

Do you have a premarital agreement?
