Dba ownership change

my wife has a dba in her name and

ss# we would like to know what we have to do or if we can do, to transfer it to my name and ss#...

There is no transfer. You would have to file another certificate with the County Clerk and the wife would release her rights allowing you to use the business name.

Just to add to Mr. Markowitz's answer...

Remember, a d/b/a is just a fictitious name for you...a sole proprietor. If you are conducting business as a sole proprietor, your personal assets are at risk. For instance, if you are indeed conducting a business, and you did so as a limited liability company or a corporation, your personal assets are unreachable by your clients and/or suppliers. Only the assets of the business would be reachable in case of a law suit settlement.
