Legal Question in Business Law in New York

Issues with the state

NY State has TWICE acknowledged my dispute on corporate taxes and yet has already placed a lien on me after the first acknowledgment and before the second. They are behaving as if this lien doesn't exist. It seems like one person in the office is acknowledging my dispute while the next files the tax lien.

How do I resolve this? Calling them hasn't worked. I don't even owe these taxes. I sent them proof that the FEIN is wrong and yet they keep pursuing this while claiming to not be pursuing it.

I sent them evidence from the IRS itself that that is not my FEIN and yet nothing.

Re: Issues with the state

You need to hire an attorney who has experience dealing with the state tax people. Call the NYS Bar Association for a referral if you need one ( www.nysba.org ).

That is really the only way to get one branch of the Dept. of Tax & Finance to talk with another.
