Yes, your customer has the full right to sue you. Often, what a contractor deems expert craftsmanship is seen by the homeowner as shoddy work. Beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder in the world of home-improvement.

Forgive me if I sound like a used car dealer, but you need to speak with a construction attorney right away. It is not so much the lawsuit that you have to fear; rather, you do not want your customer to file a complaint with the Department of Consumer Affairs. If you don't have the proper license or If your contract does not meet with the DCA's guidelines, you could be looking at hefty fines on top of a judgment in favor of the homeowner. To make matters worse, the DCA is very, very, pro consumer and can truly make your life miserable.

An attorney can step in and determine if you are facing a real problem or not. If there's a problem, a good construction lawyer can you save you a lot of money and a lot of hassle and a lot of time sitting around the DCA's tribunal at 66 John Street. More importantly, an attorney can save you from losing your license.

I hope this is helpful information. Unfortunately, I can't tell you more without seeing photos of the construction site or hearing the homeowner's side of the argument.
