Legal Question in Consumer Law in New York

A early couple came to my parents laundromat today and complained about their blanket being altered. They said that the blanket being originally blue but now it's gray with one blue spot. They demanded $100 for the blanket( originally $250 but since it was worn out they wanted $100). Seeing how ridiculous it is to pay $100 for a blanket, my parents refused, instead they ask the couple if they could wash it again and get the blue out. They told my parents while walking away "SEE YOU IN COURT!"Could they actually sue my parents and if so who would win? Thank you
