Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Bank account frozen

A bank account held jointly by husband+wife was frozen. A judgment for $2000 was won for husband's credit card debt, in husband's name only.

Can the bank put a hold on a joint account? What are the steps to take to remedy the situation?

Re: Bank account frozen

The husband's name is on the account...therefore it was frozen. You can make payment arrangements of you owe the debt or you can get legal help and file an order to show casue to attempt to vacate the judgment based upon the default that probably happened.

Good Luck
