Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

business unable to collect fees of services

Residential remodeling and light construction were performed on a dwelling out-of-state. I have sent two (2) bills via certified US mail for services rendered and have not had any response or payment. What legal actions can be taken to collect fees for the services provided?

You would have to commence an action in the jurisdiction where the dwelling is located. Local law is needed since in many jurisdictions an individual must be licensed. Also, depending on the jurisdiction you may be able to file a lien against the property.
