Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Cohen, and Slamowitz froze my bank account, though I get SSI

My bank account (direct deposit)has been frozen by Cohen, and Slamowitz, I assume they're attempting to collect an old debt I had from a credit card. I currently get SSI. From my knowledge I cannot co-mingle funds, thus I never deposited any monies into the account. I did however transfer funds between checking and savings. Funds that I received from SSI! I called the creditors and they told me to prove it by faxing a copy of my SSI award letter and my last 3 bank statements. Please tell where I stand here and what will happen next. I'm sure what they're doing is illegal worse how can I trust them. Will they really simply unfreeze my account after I give them the information? The woman (rude/arrogant) I spoke to said that the bank never would of let them freeze the account if I didn't co-minlge and deposit money into it. Does the transfer of funds count as a ''deposit''? Please help me.

The account can be restrained. The burden is on you to show the source of the funds. They seem to be willing to take the document from you but if the account is not unfrozen, you need to go to court to get the restraint lifted.
