Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Collecting Judgement from another state

Hi. A lawyer from NY state is trying to collect a judgement won from NY state in WA state. I have moved without telling this lawyer or the post office. Today I received a mail from this lawyer saying he will use further legal action. My question is how did this lawyer found where no others knew where I was and what kind of further actions can this lawyer take against me?

Re: Collecting Judgement from another state

there are numerous ways to locate people that have nothing to do with you personally. Sometimes your daily life provides markers of where you are and where you have been. The NY judgment is enforceable in WA and there are a host of actions the attorney can take to enforce the judgment, from seizing funds in banks and/or garnishing your wages. If you don't own property, and are not working and have no money in any bank, I would not worry.
