Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

child molestation and rape

A close family member was raped, molested and sexually assaulted by a stepfather from age 8-16 years of age. The other sister was attacked and stopped it at age 14, when the other sister's abuse had also come to a halt. Now, the other older sibling is just recently remembering all that has happened in her childhood. She has started counseling, but all of this has been recessed memories from 20 years ago. I would like to know what are the laws, what can be done in a legal prosecution and the stature of limitations in a case such as this.

This woman has many mental and physical damages that were definately caused by what has happened to her as a child.

Thank you for your time.

Re: child molestation and rape

More importantly than the criminal aspect of this attrocious act there may be civil action whereby monetary compensation may be available to the victim of this terrible act. I need much more information before being able to make a real determination regarding theese possibilities. You may if you wish contact my office @718-834-0087 to discuss this further.
