Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Forgery charges limitations

Background info:

While I was married I signed my husbands name ( with his approval) to a credit card application, 2years later during a nasty divorce, and judgement from credit union, I was charged and convicted of forgery 3rd degree. Conditions being 3 yrs probation, restitution of obligation and maintaining employment. I was on probation 1year, divorce finalized and obligation paid. My job required finger printing and they (NY state agency) allowed me to keep my job.

Question:

What are my limitations having been charged with this?

Can I vote?

Can I be on a jury?

Can I visit Canada?

The reason I ask this now is I received a Federal Court jury selection form, and it has made me wonder what I'm limited to.

Thank you,

Lynda

Re: Forgery charges limitations

This is shocking! I think your lawyer was not sufficiently aggressive in the criminal matter. I recommend having another lawyer look at the case.

Refarding your rights; your right to travel is unimpaired but you may not serve on a jury if you pled to a felony.

Look into this criminal matter. It is shocking.
